L'étage phono TP-6.5 Signature est conçu pour compléter et se marier en performance sonore, interface utilisateur et esthétique avec les préamplificateurs ligne TL-6.5 ou TL7.5. Ce produit tout nouveau a été conçu à partir de zéro pour redéfinir une référence actuelle dans les étage phono, qui tient la tête haute aux meilleurs préamplis ligne de VTL, les TL7.5 Series III et TL-6.5 Series II.
Le TP-6.5 intéressera les possesseurs actuels de prémplis ligne VTL qui attendaient patiemment pour un étage phono équivalent. Il emploie un circuit hybride JFET/tube pour un silence de fonctionnement, des régulateurs en cascade à faible bruit et des alimentations blindées pour la dynamique, une égalisation passive RIAA précise à 4-pôles et 68dB de gain depuis les entrées symétriques, dans un seul châssis. Tous les réglages utilisateurs requis sont accessibles par le panneau avant aussi bien qu'avec la télécommande.
La nouvelle conception apporte une scène sonore large profonde, des proportions réalistes à l'image diffusée, et une rapidité et une gamme dynamique incroyables, avec énormément de marge disponible et un bruit faible. Le TP-6.5 résoud facilement les aspects les plus délicats et nuancés de la musique, tel que le maintien et les fins de notes des sons capturés ; il retient en même temps la caractéristique classique de VTL, des basses solides et contrôlées.
Le TP6.5 offre aussi un transformateur élévateur Moving Coil (bobine mobile) de haute qualité, pour permettre une élévation MC à faible bruit, et un second étage MC. Cette seconde entrée MC remplace l'entrée MM originelle qui est normalement standard sur le préampli phono TP6.5, et utilise l'entrée existante MM pour fournir un accès au transformateur élévateur MC.
L'ajout du transformateur élévateur permet une charge adéquate pour les cellules à très faible niveau, et la flexibilité de recevoir différentes cellules avec différentes méthodes d'élévation, étant donné que dans certains cas des cellules particulières peuvent sonner significativement mieux avec des transformateurs qu'avec des étages de gain actifs. Le transformateur permet également à la cellule d'être chargée via le transformateur, plutôt qu'avec la résistance de charge, préservant autant que possible le signal disponible des cellules.
La commutation entre les entrées est réalisée seulement une fois que le signal a été amplifié, pour éviter les pertes inhérentes à la commutation des fragiles signaux MC qui proviennent de la cellule.
Cette option offre le maximum de flexibilité avec les cellules MC, et peut aussi acceuillir de multiples combinaisons bras/cellules avec diverses cellules MC, comme les deux entrées peuvent être connectées en même temps.
